Interview: Tammy Allen

Stylinzine.com: Hi Tammy well to begin with tell us a little bit about you and your music?

Tammy Allen: I like to refer to myself as a lifer, I have been involved in music since I was a teenager. I plan to continue with that course until I am no longer on this earth. This passion for music has grown only stronger with time. I am more in love with it than ever.

Stylinzine.com: Who would you say is your biggest inspiration in life?
Tammy Allen: My Grandmother, she taught me that I could do it myself.

FEATURES	Stylinzine.com: Which recording artist do you identify with/admire most? Tammy Allen: I love George Duke. I dream of the day when I might open a show for him. Stylinzine.com: As a Jazz musician what do you thing it is going to take to improve the genres standing in mainstream contemporary music? Tammy Allen: I think if we keep exploring new directions, keep it fresh, keep it new. Keep it young. Don’t get stuck in definitions of what is the only true jazz. Jazz was born out of expanding new concepts of music and improvisation. Stylinzine.com: What are your future plans in terms of your music, album, and so forth? Tammy Allen: I will continue to perform, learn, create and enjoy the process. Stylinzine.com: Which 'one hit wonder' (thus far) do you feel disserved a more lasting career? Tammy Allen: I don’t have a clue. All of them I am sure. At least I am sure they thought so. Stylinzine.com: What do you think it takes to carry off a great performance/show? Tammy Allen: Know you craft first and foremost. Get in the moment, feel the music and the sheer joy of the shared experience with the band and the audience. When you are in and feeling great, the audience feels it. I love it. It is the best feeling in the world to me.

Stylinzine.com: What is your favorite song of all time?
Tammy Allen: The Christmas Song.

Stylinzine.com: If you weren't in the entertainment biz what would you be doing?
Tammy Allen: Something in the arts. I love to dance, write, act and someday I would enjoy painting. I also love to cook and design clothes. There is no shortage of fun careers in this world.

Tammy Allen: Rachelle Farrelle

Stylinzine.com: What would the most flattering concert review about you say?
Tammy Allen: It would say that everyone in the house had a big smile on their face from the start to the finish.

Tammy Allen: My greatest wish is that after listening to my CD “Wonderful To Be” it puts a little extra bounce in their step. Life can be just that, wonderful, and music is my way of sharing my joy. ¯
