Our interview with Ryan Joy

Passionate about dancing, and music, Ryan Joy brings a signature flava to the music scene with rhythm induced tracks, and a tempo that’s a mixed bag of Urban, Pop, and R&B, with a back drop of Hip Hop. Her style is all about performance, she is an entertainer who believes in having fun and values her fan base, her music will make you get up and dance as you turn up your sound system...

Her vocals we'll take you back to the crooning pipes of Jennifer Lopez and Toni Braxton, and what's more is that you'll be hooked on a sound that's ultimately all authentic.

Just recently we caught up with her to chat about her inspirations from the get go, why she'd love to work with Justin Timberlake or Usher, her favorite choreographer, fans and much more.....read on....

FEATURES

Stylinzine.com: Hi Ryan, well first tell us a little bit about you?
Ryan Joy: Hey everyone… My name is Ryan Joy Southworth and I am 23 years old. DOB 1/18/1981 born, and still living, in Tampa, FL :)

SZ: How did you get started in the music biz/ how were you discovered?
RJ: I started out when I was 12 as a dancer and host on a local "Mickey mouse club/grind (MTV)" style show put on by the Boys and Girls Club. From there I joined a hip hop dance group and traveled throughout Florida competing and did a little backup dancing and eventually decided to go full force with music on my own. I got in touch with my current management company via internet and here I am today...lol

SZ: What inspired you to take up singing professionally?
RJ: Singing is something I have always wanted to do. When I was younger dancing always came easier because I didn’t have the confidence in myself to pursue singing just yet, but about 3-4 years ago I decided what the heck and went for it full force.

SZ: How would you do describe your style and mainstream audience?
RJ: My style is very eclectic I guess. I am in to so many things that I can’t label my particular style into one category. My music has a very urban edge to it, yet, it's not really like everything out there now. We have been portraying it as Urban Pop. Most of my mainstream audience consists of male and females, 12-30ish, all ethnicities and cultures...which is a pretty broad range. I have fans across the US, and have received many emails from the UK, Saudi Arabia, and even Africa :)

SZ: Dancing is a big part of your music; do you have a choreographer to help you out?
RJ: Yeah I have worked with a couple. I worked with Mario Henry in the beginning. My more recent choreography can be attributed to the talent of Michael Allen, and I may be working with another choreographer named Eric very soon... they are all ssooooo talented and amazing dancers!!!

SZ: What are you currently working on and what can your fans look forward to next?
RJ: I am always working on new music to perform. Look for a lot more upbeat songs. Also looking to start touring soon and getting involved with acting – so maybe you'll see me on the big screen soon ;)

SZ: Tell us about the highlight of your career thus far.
RJ: Traveling, performing in different places and meeting so many interesting people. There hasn’t been ONE moment that stands out yet....but, it's been a blast so far and I can't wait for more. lol ;)

SZ: If you were to share the stage with any other artist right now, who would it be and why?
RJ: I would love to collaborate with some one like Usher or Justin Timberlake, they are ultimate entertainers. By that I mean they not only sing and dance, but they keep the audience "into" the show. That's what it really is about, giving the fans what they want and deserve, and having fun at the same time

SZ: Which artists, band or genre of music do you typically listen to?
RJ: There are so many, I love rock, country, hip hop, R&B, pop…so I can't really say any particular artist or group.

"I want people to feel my music when I'm performing at a concert. I love looking out and seeing people singing the lyrics like they're their own. My music is strictly for the fans, no matter what age or background. Without them, I wouldn't be here!”.

RyanJoy!

SZ: What do you most and least like about your profession?
RJ: Least is there are allot of negative and deceiving people in this business, you just have to be strong and careful. You really cant take anything or anyone at face value, always research EVERYONE you meet in this industry. The best is being able to travel and meet so many cool and talented people!!

SZ:  Which artist(s) do you most admire?
RJ: I really look up to artists like Madonna and Janet…they have had such longevity in this business...I look for my career to have the same :)

SZ: Well thanks for taking time out for us, before we wrap up what would you like to say to Stylinzine.com readers and your fans?
RJ: Thank you so much! I really appreciate all of the support! Stay strong!! Love ya :)
