Our Interview with John Keefe of the band Lancaster

Stylinzine.com: Hi guys, well first of, please introduce your-selves to our readers.
Lancaster: Hey NOW!!! My name is John Keefe and I am 21 years young, I am the drummer of the band. The other guys unfortunately couldn’t be here today for the interview, but not to worry I am sure I can handle these questions as long as they don’t involve spelling or grammar because I will surely fail.

FEATURES

Stylinzine.com: When was Lancaster formed and how did you all meet?
John Keefe: Lancaster was formed officially about a year ago. We all met through friends and bands on tour. I had known all the members before hand and I knew these are the best musicians around and great guys so why not try and start something up and we did. We got together and it just clicked, the chemistry was there from day one.

Stylinzine.com: What/who do you each typically listen to?
John Keefe:
The cool thing about this band is we all listen to different music and we cross paths with allot of the same music as well. To give you a better idea we listen to just about anything that sounds good. Martin, 18, our front man loves Theatre music, some of his favorite bands are The Wallflowers, Jon Mayer, and Real Big Fish, to name a few. BJ, 22, our lead guitarist likes a lot of solo guitar stuff, he grew up listening to hair metal some of his favorite bands include Metallica, 311, and Incubus. Rhythm guitarist, Bobby, 21, listens to pop punk music and loves Yellowcard and Story of the Year but he grew up listening to bands like Aerosmith and Bon Jovi. Bassist Bryan,19, is a total mental case and no one knows what he listens to now but I do know he grew up listening to Led Zeplin, Rush, and The Police. Lastly, right now I am listening to 3rd Eye Blind because there one of my favorite bands and I am into Hoobastank a little now. Martin really got me into Jon Mayer and The Wallflowers so those are other top choices for me. But, my influences come from when I was just a young lad I was really into Pearl Jam and Sound Garden that whole grunge thing was cool to me, I also really like a lot of solo musicians such as buddy rich, Steve Smith and Dennis Chambers.

Stylinzine.com: In each of your opinion who is the most inspirational artist to date?
John Keefe:
I think what makes any great band great, is great songs, great musicianship, and having a love for what they’re doing most importantly.

Stylinzine.com: In each of your opinion who is the most inspirational artist to date?
John Keefe:
That’s a hard question; I would say the most inspirational artist to date would have to be The Beatles. They took rock music and went with it in so many directions, they shaped music for what it is today but that definitely could be argued. Again that’s a hard one because there are so many great artists out there.

Stylinzine.com: Before the band , what were each of your individual musical efforts/involvements?
John Keefe: We all played in other bands and worked day jobs when we weren’t touring basically the music business is a hard route and we are only just getting our foot in the door.

Stylinzine.com: Are you currently working towards anything other than music?
John Keefe:
Right now this band is the priority for all of us but I am sure if things really take off and we have down time people will pursue other things on the side.

Stylinzine.com: If you could tour with any band from the current scene, who would it be, and why?
John Keefe:
I think Aerosmith would be the sweetest tour ever. Even if we didn’t get to play but we just got to go along for the tour that would still be wicked sick.

Stylinzine.com: In each of your opinion, which artist is the most controversial/ over hyped name in the industry?
John Keefe: Most controversial I would say Eminem but it doesn’t seem like there has been much shock rock or rap in a while, no one is really doing anything too crazy, or at least that I know about, <lol>. Over hyped name? I don’t know about that one I don’t think anyone is over hyped right now there are no boy bands anymore so I think pretty much everyone is doing there own thing, I don’t see much hype.

Stylinzine.com: Which female singer do you each adore most?
John Keefe:
Martin is in love with Hilary Duff so Hilary if you are reading this Martin loves you. Myself, I love Paris Hilton but her single hasn’t come out yet.

Stylinzine.com: Who do you thing is the most under appreciated musician?
John Keefe:
The one that’s on tour right now with no label no support doing it himself and just getting by.

Stylinzine.com: In each of your opinion, the best of this year so far has been...
John Keefe: Writing songs and playing shows with
Lancaster has been amazing, hooking up with our Manager Mike Caputo who we owe the world to was also awesome, working with Cameron Web and Cliff Magness was unreal as well.

Stylinzine.com: Where have you performed so far and what are your goals towards a debut
album?
John Keefe:
We have done the smaller club scene as a band so far but the main focus is just writing and preparing for an album, after that we will be playing everywhere for everyone.

Stylinzine.com: Well before we wrap up, what should aspiring fans know about Lancaster?

John Keefe: Bobby carries a babies arm with him at all times. BJ is referred to as Jesus Knights, Bryan has murdered over 80 people this year alone, Martin is a bunny, and me, well I just try and keep it all together. Ha ha ha... thanks for the interview we look forward to meeting you sometime in the future. Thanks a lot. OUTTTTTTTT.
