"Hey this is Jessie Daniels and thanks so much for checking out Stylinzine.com"  (click to listen) So while Jessie eagerly eyes the coveted Grammy Award, we were curious about her thoughts on the music biz, future goals and more…. here’s what she had to say…

FEATURES

StylinZine: How did you get started in the music Biz?
Jessie Daniels: I started going to music conferences and seminars and met my manager while attending a conference in Nashville.  We signed in April of 2003 and things look off from there.

SZ: What are some of your musical inspirations?
JD: Michelle Branch for her songwriting and flawless voice, and Mandy Moore for her sincere heart and genuine love for music.

SZ: Have you ever found yourself star struck? If so by who?
JD: I've never really been star struck, but when I met Michelle Branch I was so excited that I didn't really know what to
say.  I asked her if she had recently had a haircut.  What a dork!

SZ: Your dream duet would be with which living artist and where?
JD: Bryan Chan, at a major stadium somewhere.

SZ: Where do you hope to see your career in the next year or so?
JD: My record should be out later this year, and hopefully I'll be on tour, and happy.  I just want to always love what I do.

“I don’t have anything special to offer except myself,” .... “I want to show people ME.  And who I am.  And I’m not totally dysfunctional and I’m not perfect.  I’m a normal teenage girl, as any another, struggling with faith, trust, and love.”

SZ: Artists are always compared to each other especially when you're new to the industry, as such what do you think makes you standout?
JD: The message of my music is what sets me apart.  It's a message of faith, hope and love that hopefully will touch and inspire people.

SZ: Describe your music and the demographics you hope to reach.
JD: My music is definitely rock,  ‘Rock with heart and attitude’.  I think it has a wide appeal, but I definitely want to communicate with my peers and let them know they are not alone.

SZ: What do you think is the most important aspect of your music?
JD: Again, I would have to say the message.  I hope people walk away touched by something they heard.

“I want to touch hearts.  I want to show people who I am.  Because to me, whether I sell 1 million records or just 1 record, it doesn’t matter as long as I touch one heart.”

— Jessie Daniels

SZ:  What would you say is more important 'celebrity hype' or 'true musical appreciation and talent'?
JD: Definitely appreciate and talent!  Hype is nothing more than marketing. True talent lasts forever.

SZ: Who do you think is the most misunderstood or misrepresent artist/band in the current music scene?
JD: I think that Britney Spears is misunderstood, but that is the way she represents herself.  I don't think that she understands herself, which distorts everyone's image of her.  She knows what she is doing, but is that
really her?  I think she has a great heart, and I wish she would show more
of it.

SZ: Do you plan to venture onto other entertainment fields?
JD: I have been in numerous independent films and commercials for MTV and Lifetime.  It was a big part of my past and I would love for it to be a part of my future as well.

SZ: Fame often follows tabloid garb and invasion of privacy, how much of it have you endured so far and what are your thoughts on the matter in general?
JD: I haven't faced a lot of it yet.  With paparazzi and stuff like that, I think that there is a point where the public has to respect your privacy. But I don't have much to hide.
