Stylinzine:
Tell us a little bit about the idea behind the intriguing name of your band. Jeffrey
Bianchi:
Before this band, I was making a living touring with the road act
"Young Guns" (Nashville, Tennessee). This was Modern Country act
(it rocked like you wouldn't believe!!!!) and we performed all throughout
the West and Midwest. One of our main stops was in Casper, Wyoming. We
actually lived and performed there throughout the summer of 2006; around the
time I started recording the Gardaillia demos and hatching the idea for this
band. I knew Ghost Town was next on my career goal. I decided to name the
band "Ghost Town". In respect to Casper, Wyoming, where this all
started. Also it reflects the times right now. Many concepts are dead and
dying in this world and in much need of some help. It seems our world is
turning into a Ghost town.
Stylinzine:
What's been the biggest highlight of your career thus far? Ahmad:
Definitely playing in front of all of our fans on this most recent tour...we
started this band with the intentions of just staring off small and see what
happens. now it seems we are competing to be heard over our fans...Amazing,
simply, amazing. Amber:
I'll have to agree with Ahmad on that. We did a quick 2 week tour of the
East Coast and it was an eye opener to how far this band could go. When
rehearsing our songs, we knew we had an excellent set of honest music; but
seeing how people reacted to them in various regions...It was always the
same story: In 20 seconds, the stage was lined up. No one was paying
attention to anything but us. And these were total strangers! You know
sweetie, we're just 3 guys and a girl from Atlanta playing in a kicking
band. Our first album is coming out in a few months and we're gonna grind
it. This tour proved to us that we can compete. To the nines... Jeffrey
Bianchi:
Check please!!!!!!! Joei
Lewis:
Ahmad and Amber summed up my thoughts on the tour. I can also speak for the
rest of the band by saying that at this point in time, working with our
producer Mike Thomas (Atlanta, GA) on our first album is right on par. He
took all the ideas in Jeffrey's head and transmuted them to sheer sonic
power. It's an honor to work with him. Stylinzine:
Tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind your songs and your latest
compilation; how would you describe the Ghost Town sound and style? Ahmad:
With Ghost Town, we have a sonic palette that spans all space and time. With
a sound that is definitely unique, yet familiar all the same. It is really
hard to pinpoint an exact style...I guess we'll leave that up to you...the
fans! Jeffrey
Bianchi:
The album is really my interpretation of me going through life and relaying
what I've felt and seen. It's cliché but true. Heartbreak, hope, winning,
losing, relationships, the divine spark of youth, being carefree and wanting
to say "screw it all". It's an album that even if you just read
the lyrics, you can find a place where it relates to your life. As far as
the sound...Ghost Town could easily be described as "hard pop rock with
a touch of ambiance". Amber:
Ghost Town sounds like my ex-boyfriend on speed crack....But in a very very
good way!!! Joei:
We're a rock band that plays great songs that everyone can relate to. End of
story. Stylinzine:
What are each of your favorite track(s) from your album and why? Ahmad:
I have to say, for me at least, "My Charming Friend" has it all
for me...The honest lyrics, the driving melody, the climactic buildup...Sure
to win over the ladies! Definitely my favorite. Joei:
"Sweet 16". It has such an incredible hook. And what Jeffrey is
singing about, ya know. Just wanting to be forever young. Always hanging on
to who you are. Basically saying "screw it" and being true to
yourself when everyone else caves in. Jeffrey:
"Blush Red" and "Wander Around with Me". I wrote those
songs each in under 8 minuets and are very true to that moment in time. Add
to that the hooks, melodies and lyrics. Amber:
"My Charming Friend" because of its power...The bass line gets to
into my tiny bones and wants to rattle me to pieces! I love it! "My One
and Only" because the great meshing of rock with sensitive lyrics and a
catchy melody. The Saramic Heart Song as well. Just a beautiful song that a
guy and a girl can dance to. Honestly, every song on our new album works.
This is an honest album for everyone. |

Stylinzine:
Winning at the Grammy's, your thank you speech would reference which
artist (living or not) as an inspiration? Ahmad:
Wow! I know my list would go on forever as far as influences are
concerned, but I would have to start with the fellas right here with
me...without all the hard work that each individual has put into this
thing, we certainly wouldn't be where we are today. Jeffrey:
Any musician who could of given up but didn't. You know, people like Duane
Allman, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Corgan, Sting, Carlos Santana. If you study
music history, you see that these guys started with very little and had
all the reasons to quit. But they took what they had and made the most of
it. And the rest is (was) history. People like that keep me going. Joei:
My dad, Joe. He's always been an inspiration to playing music. The support
he's given could never go unnoticed. He just started a label called Yanyoc
records, based in Atlanta. His vision to get that going and maintain it
inspires me to work hard. Amber: Jeffrey Bianchi is mine! He proved to me that you can weigh under 100 lbs and still be in a great rock band!
Stylinzine:
What's playing on your iPod right now? Ahmad:
The new Mars Volta's "Bedlam in Goliath" and Radiohead "In
Rainbows"..I, actually, recommend you go out and buy them both now. Amber:
"12 Trancendal Etudes for Piano" by Franz Liszt, "Daphne
and Chloe" by Maurice Ravel, "Revolver" and the "White
Album" by the Beatles. Jeffrey:
"Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys, Boston's 1st album, the new
Radiohead Album "In Rainbows"...BUY IT!!!, Disc One of the
Beatles "BBC sessions", Red Kross's "Third Eye", some
OLD SCHOOL JAMES BROWN!!!!!!!!! Joei:
Earth Wind and Fire, Van Halen, the Isley Brothers and my whole CD
collection which I won't bore you with. Stylinzine:
Which songs are you each a little embarrassed to admit, you love? Ahmad:
Ah, the question that always comes back to haunt you...I plead the 5th. Jeffrey:
Hey now...There's NOTHING wrong with Barry White. So no one look at me. Joei:
Amen, brother!! I was the one who pushed that CD to him! Amber:
We should cover one his songs at our shows. The chances of getting someone
to go home with one of you would always go up. Stylinzine:
Which decade in music do you think has been the most
inspirational/influential to music today? Ahmad:
60's...Without a doubt...Everything today has a little bit of 'Flower
Power' running through it's veins. Amber:
It all goes back to Mr. Johann Sebastian Bach. Jeffrey:
Everything leads to the Beatles...AND Bach as well! Joei:
I gotta agree with all the answers.. But you can't leave out the groove.
Remember bands like Earth Wind and Fire, KC and the Sunshine Band, the
Commodores as well as guys like James Brown and Stevie wonder. You need
soul, groove and feeling in the music or it won't work. Stylinzine:
If you could have one wish for your band for the next 6 months what would
it be? Ahmad:
To have touched more souls and moved more people than ever, with our
music. Jeffrey:
Not get anyone preganant. That would put a big damper on things. (everyone
laughs). Seriously, to sell a lot of albums and keep this moving upwards.
We all love what we do and we want to keep being professional. Amber:
Sell a lot of records, increase our fan base and keep tearing up our
shows. A double mellotron would be nice too! Joei:
Sell records. Sell records, keep moving upwards. Stylinzine:
What's the one thing everyone should know about your band and music? Ahmad:
Honesty...From our hearts, we birth the music that we create. Jeffrey
Bianchi:
We're just 4 people like everyone else. We don't put ourselves on
pedestals and think we're the best thing since the flush toilet just
because we play in a band. We make kick ass music and want you all to
forget your cares and have a good time with us. Visit us at our myspace
site, keep in touch, send us some some love and support. We'll do the
same. As for our album, it is just a very rocking and beautiful album that
again has something for everyone. It will be released this summer (2008).
It's worth the money spent so BUY IT!!! Joei:
We're here. And we're not leaving. As for our album, it's all killer and
no filler. Every song delivers every time. It's worth every penny. Go and
buy it this summer! Amber:
We're at a juncture where music can go in the pooper or it can....Well not
go in the pooper. Ghost Town can be one of the bands that gives modern
mainstream music a good rap. We just need YOUR help to make it happen. So
Please. Our CD comes out this summer (2008). Buy It! Visit our
myspace site, stay informed and if you like us, support us. It will
come back to you. Trust us. When we come to your town we'll blow the roof
off the place and make you proud you're living in 2008. Stylinzine:
Well, thanks for chatting with us, before we log off, give us (and our
readers) your best sale's pitch to go out and grab your CD. Amber:
The inside panel shows me doing a voluptuous pose in my old stripper
outfit. Jeffrey is handcuffed to the bed, Ahmad is on a leash and Joei is
just walking in. Jeffrey:
Anything with Amber in a stripper outfit is sales pitch enough. Joei:
If you were entertained in this interview, I guarantee the album will
entertain you a few hundred times over. Ahmad: I placed in 100,000 orders already.
