Our Interview with Candice Jarrett

Stylinzine.com: Hi Candice, well to begin with tell us a little bit about you and your music?

Candice Jarrett: Ok, about me: I am really clumsy. Sometimes I joke that I picked a dangerous profession because there are so many wires all over the stage for me to trip on… and I always seem to hit my face on the microphone. About my music: I have been playing professionally now for almost two years. Doing what I love for a living has brought me such amazing joy.

Stylinzine.com: Who would you say is your biggest inspiration in life?

Candice Jarrett: My biggest inspiration is definitely my family. They have been really supportive of me – especially when I made the decision to be a musician instead of going to med school… and they help me to have a sense of humor about life.

Stylinzine.com: Which recording artist do you identify with most?

Candice Jarrett: I would have to say – Lisa Loeb. She is very quirky and doesn’t push herself to be someone she isn’t… and her fans love her for that.

Stylinzine.com: If you were a musical instrument, what would you be?

Candice Jarrett: I would be an Alvarez Tree of Life guitar… it is the first guitar I learned to play on.

Stylinzine.com: What are your future plans in terms of your music, album, and so forth?

Candice Jarrett: I just take it a day at a time. My ultimate dream is to touch people’s lives with my music the way that music has touched my life. I hope that my music allows me to travel all over the world and meet amazing people.

Stylinzine.com: Which 'one hit wonder' (thus far) do you feel disserved a more lasting career?

Candice Jarrett: Natalie Imbruglia

Stylinzine.com: What do you think it takes to carry off a great performance/show?

Candice Jarrett: Connecting with the audience… which takes a lot of energy and relaxation at the same time… tricky, but possible.

Stylinzine.com: Given the choice, which would you prefer and why, - lead singer of a group or solo artist?

Candice Jarrett: It depends on the group. If I could have a band with my best friends n the world… I don’t think anything could beat that. But my two best friends in the world can’t carry a tune in a bucket – so I guess solo is the way to go.

Stylinzine.com: What is your favorite song of all time?

Candice Jarrett: It changes depending on how I feel – right now, I would have to go with a new song called “In the middle” – this song really means a lot to me and was written right from my heart about where I am in my life.

Stylinzine.com: If you weren't in the entertainment biz what would you be doing?

Candice Jarrett: Probably sitting on a beach eating mint chocolate chip ice-cream and chasing seagulls.
