The Black Eyed Peas
The Black Eyed Peas (BEP) are a multi-ethnic hip hop act, focused on
making the kind music that touches base with real issues prevailing in
our society. Their soulful tunes are penned around lyrics that reflect
on their integrity and original style, as well as baring various social
awareness messages.
The band was formed with
Will.I.Am, and Apl.de.Ap back in 1989. They were commonly heard around
L. A., and known as Atban Klann. After a failed contract with
Ruthless record in 1995 they found their third member Taboo, renamed
themselves as The Black Eyed Peas and finally landed a record
deal with Interscope Records. The then trio’s debut album
Behind the Front was a compilation of up-tempo grooves with a very
distinct authenticity that made their sound heart felt and addictive.
Their sophomore album Bridging the Gap was a follow up to their
uncontroversial yet deeply moving style, that established a seeded place
on the music scene; though on the back burner for quite some time, they
are back with their third release Elephunk.
In
this phenomenal compilation of 14 tracks including hits like 'Where is
the love' and the most recent radio favorite – 'Hey Mama'. They are a
semi under ground band with an incredible musical spirit and vision
paired with soulful vocals, presented authentically.
Newest member Fergie future catalysed the bands image with varied vocal
range.
They undoubtedly found a whole new level of fame, recognition, and a
stash of new fans with Elephunk, an album that has a touch of
pop tempo, and street style. Their mainstream credibility comes from a
fuss free style that was once adored by fans of groups like ‘Arrested
Development’. There music this time around takes a fresh approach to
settle into the current music scene with solid presence without fading
in the background. .
