Stylinzine.com: Hi Adam, well to begin with tell us a little bit about you and your music?
Adam
Barta:
Hi, I'm
Adam...for those of you who don't know me. I am a pop/dance singer from
the good ole Boogie down Bronx.
My music is a blend of pop and dance with a little bit of rock thrown in
there. I have a dance single out now called "Dirty Girls" on Aquetra
Records, which has been doing pretty well on dance radio and Satellite. I
also have a new dance song with Mike Rizzo called "I Wanna Hold You"
released this Spring!
Stylinzine.com: Who would you say is your biggest inspiration in life? Adam Barta: Probably my mom and dad. My dad passed away when I was 15 and it's been tough but he instilled some really amazing values within me to always push myself and never give up. My mom has been through so much in her life as well, it's a miracle she is here, and she is a testament to just how far positive thinking and driving yourself can take you. They both raised me with the ability to always help others, and never give up on wanting the best for yourself; always follow your dreams. |

Stylinzine.com: Which recording artist do you identify with most? Adam Barta: It really changes with each new project. For example, when I was recording my pop-rock song "Broken" (a bonus track on the "Dirty Girls" single), I was working with Brad Vander Ark from the Verve Pipe, so I became in this mindset of really listening to a lot of rock music - love Aerosmith. I always thought Ryan Cabrera was a good inspiration for it. Nick Lachey has a really great and soulful voice, and I have always been told I have that quality in mine. As I record more dance music, I find more dance artists as inspiration - Lucas Prata demo'ed the song I am about to record so he is sort of a icon of where I want to be with my dance music because he has been so successful and is so talented. I also am a big fan of Kim Sozzi. She is really down to earth and a phenomenal singer.
Stylinzine.com: If you were a musical instrument, what would you be?
Adam
Barta:
Probably
an ice blue electric guitar because I am fun, funky, and love to rock out! Stylinzine.com: What are your future plans in terms of your music, album, and so forth? Adam Barta: I am going to be working on this new song, "I Wanna Hold You". It's an amazing song which I think will be a hit. It was written by Mike G (who also wrote "Kiss The Sky" and "How Can I Be Falling", both which are Billboard hits). The team I have behind me on this is amazing. This will definitely raise my profile as a dance singer and introduce me to the scene. After this I plan on working on a full album, which will be mainstream, but still focus on the dance element.
Stylinzine.com: Which 'one hit wonder' (thus far) do you feel disserved a more lasting career? Adam Barta: I think Jessica Folker had a really great dance song with "To Be Able to Love" I think it was called. I haven't heard much from her after that, and would have liked to.

Stylinzine.com: What do you think it takes to carry off a great performance/show? Adam Barta: The ability to really connect with the audience. Many people have amazing voices, but the thing that sets apart real performers is the ability to give a great show. If you look at some of the most successful singers, not all of them have the best voices. What they have is the charisma and drive that keeps fans coming back for more. It's not necessarily a tangible thing, but something that's inherent to the special people who really get that "connection" with their audience. It's a blessing.
Stylinzine.com: Given the choice, which would you prefer and why, - lead singer of a group or solo artist? Adam Barta: Wow.. that's a tough question. Having been in two failed boy bands I realized that being in a group really takes the drive and focus x's4 or 5 or however many in the group. You are only as good as your weakest link, so if someone isn't pulling their weight it really carries you down. I really the autonomy of being a solo artist. On the flipside though, the same thing that is a drawback to being in a group is also a plus, you have other members that can carry you when you fall short. But I would have to answer that I prefer being a solo artist just because being in a group really takes a very lucky combination of the right chemistry and people, and I think it is not so easy to find.
Stylinzine.com: What is your favorite song of all time? Adam Barta: That's impossible to answer! The best I can offer is a top five, but even this changes. I'd say "Dirrty" by Christina, "Everytime" by Britney Spears, "Janie's Got A Gun" by Aerosmith, "Bittersweet Symphony" by the Verve Pipe, and "How Did You Know" by Mynt/Kim Sozzi. Stylinzine.com: If you weren't in the entertainment biz what would you be doing? Adam Barta: I think something where I can help people and be creative. Right now I volunteer every Sunday at a GREAT organization called "God's Love We Deliver" (http://www.godslovewedeliver.org/) which I love. I'd probably want to do teaching or do event planning.
Stylinzine.com: Which band/soloist do you think has standout style? Adam Barta: I think the obvious answer here is Madonna. The woman has been performing as a smash artist for over 20 years. She just came out with a new dance album that has reinvented herself - AGAIN. Anyone can do that as much as she have and still be taken seriously has some serious style,
Stylinzine.com: By the end of the year what do you hope to accomplish in terms of your career?
Adam
Barta:
I'm
aiming to have this new song hit the Billboard charts (hopefully a #1!)
and receive alot of airplay on mainstream radio across the country,
especially my favorites, KTU, Z100, The Beat (Sirius) and BPM (XM). Also
to be signed to do a full album. Stylinzine.com: What would the most flattering concert review about you say? Adam Barta: That I really nailed my songs and my voice proved a powerful and solid presence throughout the show. That I have the "IT" factor.
Stylinzine.com: Well thanks for dropping by Stylinzine.com, before we wrap up; what would you like to share with our readers? Adam Barta: Thanks so much for having me.
