Interview: Terra Naomi

Stylinzine.com: Hi Terra, well to begin with tell us a little bit about you and your
music?
Terra Naomi: Well, I am a singer/songwriter and I play piano and guitar. I live in Los Angeles but I'm from New York . I have a lovely dog named Elliott and I have
a new CD of mostly acoustic songs from my virtual summer tour that is now
available on my website!

Stylinzine.com: Who would you say is your biggest inspiration in life?
Terra Naomi: Hmm.....there's not really one person. I'm mostly inspired by everything I see around me on a daily basis. My memory is not great - I tend to forget events kind of quickly, though I do have a great memory for conversations and facts. But since I don't have much memory of the past, I find myself paying way more attention to the present. So different people and events inspire me every day; and my answer to that question probably changes every day. Although there are some people who really seem to have devoted their lives to making incredible changes in other people and the world...some I look to for spiritual guidance but I won't mention them here...those people remain at the top of my list, no matter what else inspires me on any given day.

FEATURES	Stylinzine.com: Which recording artist do you identify with most? Terra Naomi: I find that Elliott Smith's words and melodies really pull at something deep inside me. Stylinzine.com: If you could perform anywhere at all where would it be? Terra Naomi: Wow - that's a tough question, maybe some huge outdoor festival in the UK . That sounds like a fun experience. I always wished I could have been around for the first Woodstock - I've watched the footage of the musicians being flown in on helicopters, landing in this crazy environment...maybe that's the answer. If I could perform anywhere I would choose Woodstock , the original one! Have you got a time machine? :) Stylinzine.com: What are your future plans in terms of your music, album, and so forth? Terra Naomi: Everything is up in the air right now - I'm starting to talk to some people about some possibilities - sorry to be vague, but everything is very vague at the moment. I should know more soon. Regardless of anyone else's involvement in my career, I intend to keep writing and releasing music for people all over the world and touring. Now it's just a matter of how that unfolds and who is involved. Stylinzine.com: Which 'one hit wonder' (thus far) do you feel disserved a more lasting career? Terra Naomi: I love that 80's song "total eclipse of the heart." that chick had a great voice. I don't know if she was a one-hit wonder, but I can't think of anything else she sang. Bonnie Tyler - I just Googled her. Haha. Stylinzine.com: What do you think it takes to carry off a great performance/show? Terra Naomi: Love and honesty and intention. Stylinzine.com: Given the choice, which would you prefer and why, - mass commercial success right now or recognition as a true musician? Terra Naomi: Both. ;)

Stylinzine.com: What is your favorite song of all time?
Terra Naomi: I don't have only one. That's too difficult to answer. Whenever someone asks me that question my brain freezes up and I can't even think of one song that I love. Maybe it's my brain acting rebellious.

Stylinzine.com: If you weren't in the entertainment biz what would you be doing?
Terra Naomi: Sleeping on my mom and dad's couch.

Stylinzine.com: Which band/soloist do you thing has standout style?
Terra Naomi: Radiohead.

Stylinzine.com: By the end of the year what do you hope to accomplish in terms of
your career?
Terra Naomi: I would like to either be recording or have finished recording my first real album, know who's going to pay for and distribute it, and either be on the
road or have plans for touring.

Stylinzine.com: What would the most flattering concert review about you say?
Terra Naomi: That I appear to completely love what I do when I'm on stage and that I gave the audience an incredible musical experience.
