Interview: Pryde

FEATURES		Stylinzine.com: When was P.R.Y.D.E. formed and how did you all meet? Josh: “Well Jared and I are neighbors and have been friends since we were three. We started the band and both kinda had the same idea, I was playing guitar and Jared was thinking about drums, so we just put the two together. Jared: “Yeah, our very first gig was the 4th grade talent show at Tinc Road School. Josh and I wrote a song called “I Met A Friend” I played it on a tiny electric drum pad and Josh with an Austin and mini Crate amp”. Josh: “Yeah, the audience didn’t know what to think. Jared and I have had a lot of other guys in the band, took some time to get the right people” Jared: “P.R.Y.D.E. was formed about two years ago, before that we were ‘Highway Star’, but with different players” Erick: “Josh and I have the same guitar teacher and when I was ready Josh and Jared drafted me, I wasn’t even given a choice, they just said your in or you die” Bobby: “I’m like the newest member, I used to go and watch P.R.Y.D.E play at different gigs, like they would have a bus and fans and stuff and I would hang with them. I was playing in another band when they asked me to fill in for a gig cause the bass player couldn’t make it. The rest is history, I love playing with them. Stylinzine.com: What/who do you each typically listen to? Josh: “I love metal and rock, some of my favorite bands are Pantera, Shadows Fall, and Avenge Sevenfold” Erick: “Rock of coarse - AC/DC, Green Day/ Led Zepplin Bobby: “Rock and Roll – Green Day, Nirvana, The Beatles Jared: “Punk/Rock, None More Black, Green Day, Dashboard

Stylinzine.com: As a group what do you think makes you a great band?
Bobby: “We work really well together, and have sooo much fun when we perform”
Josh: “Hardwork and lots and lots of practice, and always trying to be positive with one another”
Jared: “Yeah, we seem to listen to each other and know each other pretty well”
Erick: “We have a lot of talent for our ages!”

Stylinzine.com: In each of your opinion who is the most inspirational artist?
Erick: “Billy Joe Armstrong”
Bobby: “Kurt Kobain without a doubt, I love him”
Jared: “Travis Barker”
Josh: “The one and only John Petrucci”

Stylinzine.com: Before the band what were each of your musical efforts/involvements?
Bobby: “Don’t laugh—violin and piano”
Josh: “I like piano and still work songs there sometimes, voice and always the guitar”
Erick: “Guitar, it’s always something I loved”
Jared: “School Band and French Horn”

Stylinzine.com: Are you involved in or interested in pursuing other areas of the entertainment industry?
Rick: “Yeah, I love photography, wouldn’t mind doing that.”
Josh: “I love to write, stories and songs, I guess they are almost the same. I am also interested in film directing”
Jared: “Well I really like sound and engineering it, I think it would be cool to be a cameraman.
Bobby: “I could dig being an actor”

Stylinzine.com: If you could tour with any band from the current scene, which would it be?
Josh: “Wow that’s tough, but I think I would choose Velvet Revolver”
Bobby: “Definitely Green Day no doubt about it”
Erick: “Yeah, I’m with Bobby Green day all the way”
Jared: “That’s three for three me too on Green Day!”

Stylinzine.com: In each of your opinion which artist do you think is the most controversial/ over hyped name in the industry?
Jared: “Definitely Eminem”
Bobby: “I would say it would be Usher”
Josh: “Has to be Good Charlotte and Eminem”
Erick: “With you on that Josh, Good Charlotte”

Stylinzine.com: Who do you thing is the most under appreciated musician?
Josh: “I would say my guitar teachers Warren Hibbert, and Bob Cline they’re both great, I think the whole band agrees that there are thousands of really talented musicians out there that just never get the credit they deserve, they are playin’ their hearts out and should be signed and on tour!

Stylinzine.com: Which female singer do you each adore most?
Jared: “Christine Aguilera she’s the best”
Bobby: “Jessica Simpson she drives me nuts”
Josh: “Avril Lavgine” love her eyes”
Erick: “Brittany Spears, what a body”

Stylinzine.com: In each of your opinion, this year will be the best year if you ……
Erick: “get signed”
Bobby: “get signed”
Jared: “get signed”
Josh: Just keep playin’ out at different gigs and getting people to hear us and OPEN for THURSDAY!

Stylinzine.com: Where have you performed so far and what are your goals towards a debut album?
Josh: “Wow we have played about 20 gigs this year so far, everywhere from benefits to raise money for people who need it, to clubs down the Jersey Shore and three battle of the bands. I want a kick ass album that will really show our stuff.
Bobby: “We are in the studio right now grindin’ it out, I think we will end up with eight or nine songs.

Stylinzine.com: Well before we wrap up, what should aspiring fans know about P.R.Y.D.E?
Josh: “We play cause we love it”
Erick: “I’m single”
Bobby: “Love what we do”
Jared: “young, and talented”
